Overview of a combination drug therapy via EV. EV-based drug delivery systems offer distinct advantages in delivery, efficacy, and safety. In terms of delivery, EVs enable precise targeting of tumors and efficient crossing of the blood-brain barrier. Regarding efficacy, EV-mediated drug delivery overcomes drug resistance by utilizing alternative uptake mechanisms and enhances intracellular drug retention, resulting in prolonged anticancer effects. From a safety perspective, EVs demonstrate proven in vivo biocompatibility. These attributes support the development of combination therapies, including those involving anticancer drugs with MDR inhibitors, for achieving significant therapeutic efficacy.
