Exercise combined with resveratrol supplementation relieved lipid accumulations in liver but not in skeletal muscle in obese mice undergoing weight loss. Lipid accumulations in liver (A) and skeletal muscle (B) were detected by Oil Red O staining, along with the calculation of lipid droplet areas (μm2) with the Image J system and TG content. Glycogen content was also determined in HFD-fed mice after the four-week body weight loss programs: control (Cont), exercise (Ex), resveratrol supplementation (Res), and exercise combined with resveratrol supplementation (Ex + Res). The representative images of Oil Red O staining are shown with 20× magnification, and the scale bars represent 50 μm in liver. The representative images of Oil Red O staining are shown with 100× magnification, and the scale bars represent 200 μm in skeletal muscle. The values represent mean ± SEM (n = 6). P values were calculated by one-way ANOVA. *P < 0.05, and ***P < 0.001 vs. Cont mice; ##P < 0.01 vs. Ex mice; &&P < 0.01 vs. Res mice.
