Copyrighted Material Permission Requirements & Permission Request
As a general rule, written permission must be obtained from the rights holder in order to re-use any copyrighted material. Copyrighted material can include figures, illustrations, charts, tables, photographs, and text excerpts. However, written permission may not need to be obtained in certain circumstances, such as public domain works or open access content.
For any commercial use of material from the open access version of the journal, permission must be obtained from Journal of Neurogastroenterology and Motility (BMB Rep.)
Commercial use is defined as being ANY kind of re-use for the commercial gain of the user, their employing institution and/or any other third party. Examples of commercial use include:
- re-use by a non-author/third party/other publisher of parts of or all of an article or articles in another publication (journal or book) to be sold for commercial purposes
- the proactive supply of multiple print or electronic copies of items taken from the Journal to third parties on a systematic basis for marketing purposes
- re-use by an author of parts of or all of an article in other publications from commercial organizations
Re-use of any borrowed material must be properly acknowledged, even if it is determined that written permission is not necessary. This must be followed exactly: Suitable acknowledgement to the source must be made, as a footnote of table or a figure legend (e.g.
"Reprinted from BMB Rep. Year;Vol:Page with permission" or "Revised schema from BMB Rep. Year;Vol:Page with permission") and in a reference list at the end of your publication.
You will be able to get a permission to reuse BMB Rep. content. Please see the following instructions:
