During EndMT, ECs lose the expression of endothelial markers, such as VE-cadherin, PECAM-1, Tie-1, Tie-2, and vWF. Subsequently ECs gain of mesenchymal markers, such as N-cadherin, α-SMA, SM22α, fibronectin, vimentin and FSP-1. MiRNAs can promote or inhibit the EndMT program. Solid bars denote EndMT inhibiting miRNAs, solid arrows denote EndMT promoting miRNAs.
